MHCBC Christmas Dinner Sat 14 December

MHCBC 2019 AGM was held on Tue OCT at the Conservatice Club Function room. Brief summary of the proceedings
Two main priorities were to consolidate the bowls club financial position and build upon the work done on the green the previous autumn.
The committee achieved both of those objectives and much more due to the hard work and dedication of the bowls club members and our new green team.
Work on the green has consisted of top dressing, scarifying, etc. all carried out or supervised by our new greenkeeper, Frank and his able assistant Andy.
The irrigation system has been fully refurbished and improved, again at significant expense.
Around the green work took place to repair broken fence panels, prune the trees, fence treatment, furniture treatment, general maintenance and installing the hanging baskets along the length of the brick wall. Mainly achieved by unpaid member volunteers.
MHCBC have transferred their account to The Market Harborough Building Society and this arrangement has worked well so far.
The transfer balance was £1870 and as at end Sept our funds were £2605 which are available for the further investment programme that the Chairman referred to in his report.
Whilst consolidating the finances the club has also been self-sufficient in financing significant investment in year 1 of the 3 year green improvement plan, and are well positioned to finance year 2 of the three year plan green improvement plan.
All competitions ran reasonably smoothly although there were a couple of games that proved difficult to arrange and therefore had to be decided without playing.
The incoming committee should be looking for suggestions on how it can try and address this issue for next season’s competitions.
All fixtures were played during the season and those taking part enjoyed the change in format to Triples although this had reduced the number of fixtures year on year.
To fill these dates we had a successful 3 match tournament with HFM that grew in popularity and attendance as it went along. There appears to be plenty of appetite for this tournament to become a recurring annual fixture as it has benefits for us (publicity) and HFM with running costs etc.
The same clubs have confirmed dates for the 2019-20 season. The only area that we can improve upon is on the number of persons willing to play as it was difficult on occasion to raise a sufficient number of players to make the fixture viable.
