Rules Around the Green (2018)


Rule 1 Dress Code

  • The correct footwear to play on the green is a flat sole without tread marking
  • Players are to wear whites above the waist and greys below the waist. On occasion players will be asked to wear all whites above and below the waist
  • Players not wearing the correct attire will be asked to leave the green

Rule 2 Conduct

  • Be aware of games in progress when entering the gate and do not walk behind the rink when a player at the far end is about to bowl, Movement in or behind the head can be a distraction. This courtesy also applies when moving equipment at the beginning or end of a game
  • Conduct on the green should be relaxed, reserved and respectful to other players
  • Be aware of players on the mat about to bowl from either end of your rink
  • Do not disturb other games in progress on other rinks and when changing ends please walk on your own green and do not stray into other rinks

Rule 3 Smoking and Drinking

  • Smoking and drinking is not permitted on the green
  • The smoking area is at the bank. Please use the receptacles provided
  • Drinks are to be consumed at the bank. Please be considerate to other players and drink alcohol responsibly
  • Warnings will be administered by club officials or committee members for any kind of bad behaviour on or around the green. Should it continue, the offender’s will be asked to leave the green immediately and be reported to the committee for disciplinary action

Rule 4 Club House

  • Members will be issued with a key for club house access. Please ensure you lock up on leaving
  • The keys for the ladies changing rooms and equipment shed are kept in the cupboard by the window in the gents’ area of the club house. Please return the keys after use
  • Bowls and clothing can be left in the club house at the members own risk. All belongings must be removed at the end of the season, no later than 30e September
  • The club house is to be kept tidy and free of rubbish
  • Please keep your bowls bag under the seating and not on the seating Put card holders back in cupboard and place score cards in the slot

Rule 5 Fees

  • Annual membership fees must be paid by 30th April
  • Different match fees will be levied on the day/evening of a game and this will vary depending on the type of game.
    • League fixtures are £2,
    • Saturday friendlies will vary subject to the meal and where we are playing. Generally, it is circa £5
    • Thursday afternoon fun triples roll up is £1.50. Half time refreshments are included
